Polyurethane castings
Polyurethane is a versatile material that's tough, strong, durable + competitive when compared to a wide range of alternatives including wood, steel, rubber and other engineered plastics.
Material properties that contribute to polyurethane as a preferred choice include:
- Hardness range greater than rubber: from SHORE 10A to SHORE 85D
- Outstanding durability in severe wear applications with high abrasion resistance
- Greater load bearing capacity compared to other elastomers
- High tear resistance
- High shock absorbing capability and impact resistance
- Resists cracking even under repeated flexing.
- Suitable for use in applications under continuous use up to 90°C
- Polyurethane can be formulated to provide protection against a range of chemicals
- Fire retarded formulations are available to meet a range of self extinguishing specifications including FRAS for underground mining applications
- High hardness polyurethanes have a low coefficient of friction that makes them especially suitable in high wear applications.
CQMS Razer manufactures polyurethane products at its Tomago NSW facility and specialises in castings for mining and other industries with various end applications: rotors, stators, dart valves, pump liners, chute and bucket liners, couplings, conveyor pulleys and rollers, rope protectors, screens and cyclones. The range of potential applications is limitless.
